Characters

There will be a total of 34 playable characters: 27 members of the Icarus Foundation and 7 members of the Vigilantes.

During sign-up, you’ll complete a questionnaire to indicate your preferences for play style and faction affiliation. Roles will be assigned based on these preferences.

All character profiles will be accessible to every player.
While reading all profiles isn’t required, you’re welcome to explore them as much as you like. We want our players to have the freedom to choose how transparent or mysterious they want their experience to be.

Your character’s closest connections will be an important part of your experience. There will be time in the workshop sessions to connect with these characters and calibrate your play. Pre-game contact with other players is allowed but not required.

Please avoid creating any new, significant connections with characters outside your assigned links.

The Foundation

Members of The Icarus Foundation are society's elite - spanning nobility, politicians, spoiled heirs and the most prominent artists of their time.

They have joined the Icarus Foundation to give back to society, though their reasons vary widely. Some are genuinely driven to make a difference, others aim to enhance their public image or merely want to indulge in extravagant parties. A few use the foundation to launder money or conceal questionable activities.

Within the foundation, members find themselves surrounded by their peers, enjoying a sense of belonging.

Players portraying foundation members will receive a detailed character background, along with at least four close connections with other members.

Some characters harbor secrets tied to the motives behind the hostage situation. These secrets will be revealed during the game in the "I Bet You Don’t Even Remember" scenes, which are scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Players will have access to this information, though it will be blurred out on character sheets. This allows the player to decide whether to discover the secrets in real-time or have full transparency from the start.

The Vigilantes

All seven members of the Vigilantes have suffered greatly due to the wrongdoings of one or more members of the so-called "charity" known as The Icarus Foundation. While the foundation’s elite have evaded justice for their actions, the lives of these individuals have been left in ruins. With no other choice, they have decided to take matters into their own hands and dismantle the foundation from within.

Their plan is to take the foundation members hostage during one of their extravagant parties and, at the height of their fear, reveal the true motives behind their actions. By exposing the misdeeds of specific members they hope to bring the entire Icarus Foundation crashing down.

The Vigilantes come from diverse backgrounds—reporters, ex-police officers, homemakers—but none of them are professional criminals. Taking hostages is deeply uncomfortable for them. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

Players portraying Vigilantes will receive a character background detailing their reasons for joining the group and their relationships with the other members. The Vigilantes have not known each other for very long and do not share deep bonds.
